This early 19th-century Japanese bronze mirror bears a highly detailed relief of cranes, pine trees, clouds, a turtle and much more. All are auspicious symbols for longevity and eternal youth. Concentric rings and stages on the inner edge are design features based on Daoist geomancy .

The Japanese word for mirror is kagami 鏡 which also refers to the moon.
